Unlikely Friends Journal Co.
Curated journaling kits for creatives.

Case Study
The Challenge
Unlikely Friends Journal Co. is a charming small business built around community, creativity, and the joy of snail mail. Specializing in curated journal kits, custom stickers, and penpal-friendly paper goods, they needed a simple, functional web presence that could grow with them.
Their immediate need? A clean, branded website that would serve as a central hub—introducing the brand and linking customers directly to their selling platform. They weren’t ready for a full e-commerce build-out yet, but they wanted to look polished and professional in the meantime. It was also a way to grow their email list so that they could speak to their customers down the road as their goal was to create a community space eventually.
The Strategy
I designed a lightweight, fully responsive website that reflects their playful, crafty aesthetic and clearly communicates who they are. The layout puts their products and values front and center, while strategically placed call-to-action buttons guide users to shop externally.
The site also acts as a foundation for future growth. When they’re ready to launch a full online store, the backend is already structured to support a smooth transition to Woo Commerce—no need to start from scratch.
I also revamped the logo design. Creating a handmade stamp style logo to reflect the handmade quality of their brand. The brand colors, patterns (and doodles), all speak to handmade crafty. The color scheme is black and pastel, tying in the dynamic of opposites attract which is part of their brand values that “art can bring people together”.
